Reflection
I went out into the woods today to set up the course for the Student Veterans’ Association Land Nav Challenge tomorrow. I set out 16 different points that I annotated their gps coordinates. From these I will create at least 5 different courses.
This is “hiking” with purpose. I found I was paying attention to different aspects of the path than I normally do. I needed to ensure each course was as accessible as possible, so chose the trails that were the most used and fairly easy to navigate. Normally, I follow the trails most people would not want to traverse. Except for those time when I am physically challenged by my condition.
Today seemed to be the day to find mushrooms. I found locations for huge puff balls that I can’t wait to return to next year. I also found beautiful chicken of the wood. There was the every present turkey tail as well as false turkey tail. I also found one I am unfamiliar with. More research will be needed.
